Mobile Glygoyle™ Series
Gear, Bearing and Compressor Oil based on Polyalkylene Glycol (PAG)

Product description:
Mobil Glygoyle™ Series oils are premium performance gear, bearing and compressor oils designed to provide outstanding benefits in efficiency, long oil life and equipment protection. These fully synthetic polyalkylene glycol (PAG) oils have been developed for use in operating conditions where other synthetic and mineral oils are inadequate. Thanks to their low pour points, they provide excellent low thermal fluidity. They are NSF H1 registered oils from ISO 150 to ISO 1000 viscosity grades and comply with Food and Drug Administration (USA) Title 21 CFR 178.3570 for oils with incidental food contact.
– Outstanding EP/anti-wear for critical equipment components
– High level of micropitting protection for sensitive gear systems
– Lifetime rust and corrosion protection
– Protection against foam formation
– Excellent lubricity special to this fully synthetic oil
– Low traction coefficient providing energy saving and low oil operating temperature
– Excellent thermal and oxidation stability reducing scale formation and deposits

Features and Benefits:
Mobil Glygoyle Series fully synthetic oils are specifically designed to exceed the performance of mineral and PAO synthetic oils in gear and hydrocarbon gas compressor applications. The unique properties of these oils in worm gears allow more torque to be loaded on the gearboxes, and in most cases lower the temperature of the oil in the crankcase, resulting in a longer life of the seals, oil and gearbox. When used in gas compressors, the limited solubility of hydrocarbons in Mobil Glygoyle series oils provides reduced lubricant dilution and improved equipment protection.

Characteristics compared to other mineral, synthetic and PAG oil:
General: Various PAG-based oils are available. The inherent properties of these oils may vary depending on the raw materials and processes used in their production. Properties varying between the various PAG oils include their coefficient of traction (energy efficiency), thermal conductivity and miscibility with hydrocarbon oils, sorption to water and low temperature properties.

High Efficiency:
ExxonMobil researchers selected PAG base oils that offer high levels of energy efficiency compared to mineral, PAO and other PAG oils. This, combined with 10% increased thermal conductivity compared to mineral and PAO oils, allows for lower operating temperatures and longer component life.

Wide Temperatures:
Mobil Glygoyle Series have a very high (VI) Viscosity Index of 170 for ISO 68 to 285 for ISO 1000. This allows a wide operating temperature range beyond mineral and PAO oils.

Rust Protection:
PAG oils, which are designed not to mix with hydrocarbon oils, tend to absorb more water than mineral or PAO oils. Due to the high water level potential in the oil, it is necessary to take precautions against the formation of corrosion on the equipment. Mobil Glygoyle Series oils pass major rust tests such as ASTM D665A and Bethlehem Steel rust test parts A/B and receive a 0.0 rating from DIN 51802 Emcor rust test with distilled water. They also show good yellow metal compatibility with a rating of 1B in ASTM D130 testing. It is recommended that Mobil Glygoyle Series not be used in areas expected to be contaminated with salt water.

Foam Control:
Foam control is especially important in sealed “Sealed for Life” cans. The Mobil Glygoyle Series delivers excellent results at all three stages of the ASTM D 892 Foam Test.

EP/abrasion protection:
Having the right balance of EP/AW properties is especially important for worm gears that contain bronze and other yellow metals. Glygoyle Series oils with typical results in DIN 51354-2 FZG friction test excellent EP/wear protection with 12+, very low cage and rolling element wear in DIN 51819-3 FAG FE8 test and ›10-high in FVA 54 micropitting test (ISO 320). Shows excellent tingling protection.

Outstanding thermal and oxidation stability as well as excellent wear protection:
– Provides superior gear protection in overload factor situations
– Increased productivity with long oil life and reduction of scheduled and unplanned downtimes due to routine oil changes
– Lower maintenance and replacement costs

Lower coefficients of friction and traction:
– Improved gear efficiency and lower oil operating temperatures resulting in lower operating (energy) costs and longer seal life.

High thermal conductivity:
– Reduces operating temperatures at gear contact point and oil tank with improved heat dissipation

High viscosity index, low pour point and wax free:
– Easy start-up thanks to excellent low-temperature fluidity – this is especially important for successful start-up of equipment in the open and at remote locations

Very good resistance to corrosion and rust:
– Provides long equipment life and trouble-free start-up, including associated labor and spare parts savings, thanks to excellent equipment protection even during downtime.

Possibility of use in a wide variety of industrial equipment:
– Potential to use fewer products and reduce inventory costs

Usage places:
The Mobil Glygoyle Series is specifically designed for the lubrication of worm gears in heavy-duty, tough-duty applications in both food-grade and non-food applications. The product family has also proven to be an excellent lubricant for many types of industrial gears and frictionless bearing applications in harsh operating conditions. In addition, poor miscibility with hydrocarbons makes low viscosity grades particularly effective in hydrocarbon gas compression applications. This is because low viscosity dilution occurs in this type of application compared to hydrocarbon-based compressor oils.

Mobil Glygoyle Series are used to lubricate life-filled gearboxes, heavy-duty worm gears, other industrial gears in a wide range of applications, sliding and rolling element bearings, and most types of compressors.

Special applications include:
• Filled for life gearboxes, especially high-ratio / low-efficiency worm gearboxes
• Worm gear applications such as those used in conveyor belts, escalators, material handling, presses, packaging machines, ski lifts, agitators and mixers.
• Other gear and bearing applications in the cement, metalworking, plastics, food and textile industries.
• Piston, rotary, screw and centrifugal type gas compressors operating under conditions where other synthetic and mineral oils are not sufficient.

Application Information:
Polyalkylene glycol (PAG) based lubricants have some excellent lubricant properties from PAG base oils. In addition, PAG-based lubricants have some limitations in terms of compatibility with sealants and surface coatings, some light metal alloys and other lubricants. Before using PAG lubricants, contact the equipment manufacturer for specific application recommendations.

Compatibility with other lubricants:
Mobil Glygoyle Series is not compatible with most other mineral oils and synthetic lubricants. In addition, depending on the type of PAG-based fluid, such oils may not be compatible with other PAG-type lubricants. (for example, Mobil Glygoyle No Series and Mobil Glygoyle ISO VG Series are not compatible.) Mobil Glygoyle Series is generally not recommended for use in systems that previously used mineral and PAO-based synthetic lubricants. When adding or replacing an existing PAG-based oil with Mobil Glygoyle Series, it is recommended to recheck their compatibility, and it is generally preferable not to mix with a full drain, flush, and refill.
When switching from mineral oils or other synthetic products to the Mobil Glygoyle Series, it is essential that you thoroughly clean the system and backwash the system with appropriate fluids prior to conversion. For more detailed information, please contact your ExxonMobil representative.

Water:

Mobil Glygoyle Series oils, like all PAG-based lubricants, are hygroscopic (hygroscopic) and absorb more water than mineral oils or synthetic hydrocarbons. Therefore, care must be taken not to leave PAG oils in excessively humid environments. Due to the high specific gravity it contains, the water does not settle at the bottom and remains in the top layer of the lubricant.

Seal compatibility:
PAG-based lubricants are not compatible with most standard gaskets and sealants used in mineral oils or synthetic hydrocarbons. Incompatible materials will likely shrink or swell, causing oil leakage or seal failure. Gasket compatibility must be strictly considered when switching from mineral oils or other synthetic hydrocarbons to the Mobil Glygoyle Series. FKM and VMQ materials are generally suitable for use with PAG. NBR materials can also be used, but there are some temperature limitations. In all cases, the operating conditions of the equipment and the flexibility of elastomers from different manufacturers must be considered. For best results and specific usage recommendations, contact the equipment dealer or gasket manufacturer.

Light Metal Alloys:
Mobil Glygoyle Series and PAG lubricants are suitable for gear applications made of ferrous or non-ferrous metals. However, Mobil Glygoyle Series and PAG lubricants are not suitable for use with light metal alloy materials containing Aluminum and Magnesium. The use of PAG lubricants on such light metal alloys may result in increased wear.

Please consult the original equipment manufacturer for more detailed information.

Other Items:
Paint, surface coaters (primer) and some plastics are not suitable for use with PAG lubricants. In general, two-component paints (reactive paints, epoxy resin) are suitable for use on interior surfaces in contact with oil. Apart from this, the internal surfaces that will come into contact with the lubricant should be left uncoated. Oil level gauges, inspection caps etc. It is preferred that the materials to be used are made of natural glass or polyamide materials. Other clear plastics (eg Plexiglas) can deteriorate and crack under stress.
